The face of America's health care industry - manufacturers, payors, providers and service providers - is rapidly and dramatically changing. Over the past few years, highly accomplished women have risen to senior leadership positions in their health care companies. And many more are getting ready to make the leap.
The Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation ™ ("WBL") - a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization - was established to address the unique needs of women serving in a senior executive capacity in the U.S. health care industry.
To date, WBL has held four successful Retreats - now called "Summits." The WBL Foundation's Inaugural Retreat took place March 6-8, 2002 at Lansdowne Resort just outside Washington DC. Approximately one hundred senior executive women attended. A program was implemented to enhance and sustain an ongoing mechanism for senior executive women to grow professionally as well as network and support each other's health care companies.
The 2003 WBL Foundation Summit took place March 5-7, 2003 at Lansdowne Resort and the 2004 WBL Foundation Retreat was held at the Kellogg School of Management's Center for Executive Women on June 30 - July 2, 2004. The focus was effective boards, effective business decision-making and networking within the health care industry.
The 2005 WBL Summit, held on March 9-11, 2005 at the Four Seasons Resort & Club at Las Colinas in Dallas, Texas, was a huge success with over one hundred senior executive women from the health care industry attending the summit.
