A small group of DC based (and several Nashville based) Foundation Associates were lucky to get a private tour of the National Musem of Health and Medicine on the Walter Reed campus in DC. Although the companies of those attending represented the future of medicine, the group learned about the past—“plagues that changed history, ” battlefield surgery (both during the Civil War and now, in Iraq), and the final hours of Abraham Lincoln. We also saw the first ever heart monitor that began to allow doctors to practice medicine and monitor conditions away from the bedside. The tour is one of several exciting events WBL is beginning to plan for Foundation Associates in the DC area. The group was joined by several more for dinner at a restaurant in Silver Spring for more networking opportunities.
